This January 2023 edition of Learn Now's popular text for FNSTPB411 Complete business activity and instalment activity statements introduces the preparation of Activity Statements in the Xero cloud accounting platform.

Similar to previous editions, students first learn the operation of the activity statement system in Australia, GST, PAYG and other taxation principles necessary to complete BAS tasks and the mechanisms of those systems. Students then apply the principles taught to a realistic case study in Xero.

The worked case study steps students through the preparation and lodgement of two monthly instalment activity statements for a business, before completing a quarterly business activity statement.

Xero's activity statement preparation reports are examined and utilised in conjunction with reconciliation templates, the use of which is detailed in the text.

A case study exercise is also provided to lecturers which may be used for assessment purposes. The exercise provides 9 further months of transaction and banking data, allowing students to complete a full financial year of Activity Statements, plus accompanying reconciliations.

No Xero licence is required by educational institutions using this text, and no "trial" organisations are used. Xero organisations are created from within the online resources platform, with each organisation deleted six months after its creation. The online resources are available in SCORM format and can be embedded in your LMS. This also allows lecturers to access their students' Xero organisations.
